You will need your People of God from the top shelf in your classroom. "The Great Family" has become as many as the stars in the sky and the grains of sand in the desert. But there is still an original mother and a father to remember, honor and learn from. This story extends the story of the "The Great Family" by telling more about Sarah, the mother of the 'The Great Family." It includes the important and complicated relationships among Hagar, Sarah, Abraham and God. Information on changes: Dr. Cheryl Minor writes, "We replaced the baby blankets used in the original lesson with baskets, that are first empty as Sarah and then Hagar wait for the birth of their sons, and are later filled with the new babies at their birth. We also replaced the sack of grain used at the end of the lesson as Hagar and Ishmael are sent out with the more positive image of the well of water God provides".
