This story establishes the world of the parable, and then its parabolic nature questions that world to pull us in two directions: God seeks us, as we seek God. Both searches are going on at the same time when we "story" the Good Shepherd and live it in out lives. The Parable of the Good Shepherd can be used for may occasions when you wat to invite God to come and be with you as you search for god in a serious but playful and creative way.
